Why did I just do that?!

I pay all of my bills online and inadvertently made my $365 oil payment to the electric company! I was thinking I could make a stop payment, but it's already gone through. Thank god for that extra padding in my checking. Now I've got to make the real $365 payment for oil! Ahh!

    Expensive mistake...but at least the money isn't gone! You will have a credit next month on the electric bill!

    Wow! Yeah, that was an error and a half... I've done something similar though, and while it did lead to a tight month or so, it wasn't fatal. Actually, the next month I didn't have to worry about anything on that overpaid bill, so I put it towards paying down some other balance (car insurance, or something like that). Kind of like a temporary, inadvertent snowball. =) It will all balance out in the end! Good luck...
