Didn't need to take out a 12,000 loan!

December 1st, 2009 at 07:22 pm

Well that was a waste of time! Of course I didn't know it at the time, but that 12,000 dollars I thought I would need to refinance won't be necessary! Turns out this appraisal came in 15,000 higher than I expected (the house is supposedly worth 175k) and I won't need to bring any money with me to closing!

I plan on paying back all 12,000 that I took the loan out for at the end of the month (or whenever I get my first bill).

Now we can focus on saving for nonexistent baby money and paying down the LAST of T's student loans! HOORAY!

If you haven't got the first bill on it yet, I would call and see what the difference is. By law you have so many days to cancel without additional early closing fines--it varies from state to state--it may save you some to pay it off before you get that first bill.

That is huge! Congrats... so glad that this is working out with costing you less. Any time you can re-fi without money out of pocket, that leads to fewer headaches and a boost to the wallet. We are saving for a new baby, as well, but it costs less where we are living overseas... even out-of-pocket is less than it costs with insurance in the states. Good luck with everything!
