Tax Refund

February 7th, 2010 at 06:24 pm

Since we changed our payroll deductions a month or so ago, this was our last big refund that we'll be getting.

We ended up with 5,280.

5,280
-3,300 last of T's student loans is GONE!
-1,000 Savings
- 500 Pontiac G6 loan
- 480 to T for civic repairs & tires

Easy come, easy go!

The Pontiac G6 will now be down to 8,000 owed! We should have the car paid off in 5 months if no baby decides to show itself.

Hey, that's great. Now the money you were sending to the student loan can go to the car!

Has it been a year yet, if not, don't worry. If it has been, may be time to bring it up at your yearly women's exam. Great news on the debt front.

I have been doing the Creighton model, and it is really exciting. It is not the "calendar method". You do observations during the day and chart your mucus at night, and it shows you when you are fertile. You don't have to be Catholic to do it, there is not preaching or anything at all. I do meet my teacher at the church, but faith has not been brought up at all.

My teacher and doctor explained that not only do you have to have sperm and egg to make a baby you also have to have mucus. The mucus is like the fast lane to guide the sperm towards the egg. It is really fascinating! I don't have enough, and this month I am going to try Mucinex a few days before I should start ovulating to help my body make more. I am also going to be doing blood tests every other day for 11 days after I ovulate to make sure that I am making enough progesterone to support a pregnancy. If I'm not, I'll be taking supplements.

Sorry if TMI, but I think this is really fascinating stuff that every woman should know about her body. I sure didn't know before I started going to this doctor. I highly recommend it, if you are worried something is wrong. At the least, find a teacher or doctor to read up on it to see if you are interested. It has given me hope. I am 32 and had one miscarriage already, and 7 months later haven't gotten pregnant again, so I am kind of worried, but this program seems like the ticket for me.

cptacek - Thanks for all the info!! I'm definitely going to have to look into this more. I'm glad I divulged a bit of my private life on here; never thought I'd learn about pregnancy stuff from a personal finance forum/blog!

That is a great mindset to have about how each extra month leads to better financial straits for when the baby does come! I think that's far better than getting bummed out, and it gives you insurance for staying upbeat, which I think is also helpful in getting pregnant (from our experience!). Good luck, and may the fertile mucous be with you! =)
