Day 2 down!

January 26th, 2011 at 11:28 pm

Today was a bit better. Mama had an ok day at work, and there wasn't a huge accident on the interstate so it made picking up G much more bearable without the insane hours spent on the road. My mother was sweet as anything and made me lunch when I came through the door. Her afternoon work was cancelled so she didn't have to rush off right away so it was nice to sit and talk and relax. She knows I had a rough day yesterday and tried to allay my fears about this transition to working mom and I do feel a bit better. For now I need to enjoy this flexible schedule I have. I'm currently only working 3 days a week for 5 hours a day so I certainly need to calm down and relax and enjoy the situation as it is for now. I left a comment on my previous post thanking everyone for their kind words. It really means a lot that I've met such caring people on a financial site. Smile

So glad it was a better day. You know remembering WAY back, the first couple of days I cried a lot and then it seems like things got markedly better each day. I worked full time until my oldest child was three and then stayed home for a few years to babysit. If it's any consolation, being home babysitting was really no fun. I really liked working better. I'm glad you have such a flexible schedule now. You will get used to it. Also, what a blessing that your mother can watch her! It truly doesn't get much better than that. I saw her pic and she is DARLING!!!!!

That really is a very sweet schedule for a working mom. I know a lot of us would love that. My last full-time gig was all of nothing. Part time was not an option, which really makes no sense, since it is the kind of job that could easily be tailored to part time or job-sharing. I think a lot of employers just lack creativity.

mj & PNW - Thanks for the kind words Smile
savings- I certainly can't imagine babysitting multiple children being easy. One kid is more than enough right now for me!

thrift- Yes, for right now this is a pretty nice schedule. I'll have to return to full-time in a few months, but I need to learn how to enjoy the part-time in the interim!

    patientsaver- SO true! Smile
