So my weight is directly correlated to my finances. When we were doing atrocious with money (the last few months of part-time maternity leave) I was doing GREAT with my weight loss goals. Since I've gotten back on track with our budget and started saving, weight has climbed 10 (yep,T-E-N) lbs in the last two months. UGH!

In November of last year I started what I call my "year of fitness" with the Couch to 5k program. When I completed that, I added on Crossfit, but kept a several day a week running schedule. So now I'm getting good amounts of exercise and have lost the extra weight. I'm also making some minor dietary changes along the way as I feel are necessary. My new goal is half marathons - I'll run 4 over the next year and then decide if I want to do a full.
Again, the key has been intense focus. My year of fitness is aimed at implementing a big lifestyle change such that it will just be part of my normal routine. This is my one and only big goal for the year. Fitness is my number one priority after my family and work (and my fiance might tell you that things get a bit lonely around the condo sometimes, but he's thrilled with the results I'm achieving).
I don't accept excuses from myself about why I would rather skip an exercise session (like sleeping in). Unless I'm sick or injured, I stick to the schedule I've established, even when I don't want to. It has been hard work, but the results have been awesome and they help keep me going. Once I've achieved my fitness goals and established a base I'm happy with, then I can think about dialing back a bit and finding another goal. I'm not there yet.
Focus. You may have to choose one and do what you can to not slide backwards on the other until the first is well established and rolling along with minimal input from you. At least that's what I've figured out about myself. YMMV.
