getting burnt out...

December 20th, 2011 at 05:42 pm

I'm CONSTANTLY checking my spreadsheet of life (yes, that's what I call it :P) and lately it isn't moving fast enough. I owed 7,610 in July on my student loan. My mom paid it off for me so that I wouldn't have to bother with the interest and now I'm down to owing her 4,600. I have 2,500 in my bank account earmarked for her but I'm waiting til I have the total amount to pay her back in full. It feels like it's taking forever and I'm just getting burnt out with the whole thing. I know it'll be done in February but then it feels like there's always something else. I have so many goals to hit and I think I put way to much pressure on myself. Need to remind myself it's okay to slowww down on the financial goals every once in and while to keep my sanity!

Yes, it is fine to slow down.

Just a thought. Would you feel better if you gave her the $2500?

Also, remember to take time for fun and enjoyment. That might even mean not looking at that spreadsheet until next week or even January! Daring. I know. But it might help you focus somewhere else for a bit.

Remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Hang on to the fact that it will be February and try not to concentrate that you are on mile 21 of 26, and especially don't try thinking about multiple goals at once. At the end, you have to put yourself in a weird state of mind - single minded but not concentrating on the pain, being in the moment but not thinking that your life is on hold, (for later) forgetting a little to keep your sanity and celebrate, but remembering that it wasn't pleasant so you keep it from happening again... Smile
